Before photoshop was created back in 1946 making adjustments to images required a whole box of tools, a sharp eye and an extremely steady hand. Some of the equipment needed for retouching included:
- pastes
- rulers
- brushes
- cotton
- palettes
- rubber – rubber cement to help the roller mount photos
- roller – rubber roller for mounting photos with rubber cement
In photoshop you can easily crop the photo using the cropping tool however to do this manually you just simply mark the area you wish to not want and cut it off.
Halftone – This is where the image is converted into black and white. As ink is rolled over above plate and the ink on the image is then offset on rubber cylinder which in turn prints material on paper. Offset requires very contrasty retouching.
